Cooperate? Ignore? Whatever the way you approach the inside impacts from outside climate circumstances, the connection can’t be ignored!
When your home or business is located where the Sun always shines and it would never snow, you probably don’t need one of those essential areas for transition – like a “mud room!” That’s where you duck in out of the Weather! Boots are stomped, dripping slickers, parkas and gloves are hung up to dry for the next bundle-up and fingers and toes defrost. There might even be a shower, a heater and a fresh set of clothes — all to make it easier (and cleaner) on the adjacent living space.
In those ideal locations where the most intrusive functional factors might be wet bathing suits, sand in everything and piles of flip-flops — that “transition” could be located just outside with a clothesline for towels and a rinse-off shower out in the Sunshine,
The weather-specificity of the climate where you are located, greatly influences both the pragmatic and the aesthetic decisions your Interior designer would help you make when deciding to build new, refresh existing or renovate an Interior environment.
Because we all come-and-go from inside and outside as we pursue work or play, the weather conditions are our constant companions and seriously impact our Interior environments. Your Interior designer will take into consideration the many aspects of your particular site from pragmatic and aesthetic perspectives.
Preparing for harsh and messy weather factors demands considerations for the management of that messy end of things! Simple – but important – factors come into play – like protecting your inside floor coverings and window coverings from damage caused by outside conditions. When finally in from harsh weather, where warmth and comfort feel great, that harsh weather might just convert into beautiful views from windows oriented to watch snowfall or a Summer rain!
In all aspects, Weather conditions shouldn’t be allowed to damage Interior components; and, in another sense, your Interior designer would want to insure beautiful vistas from inside, enhanced with appropriate window treatments. Everything from careful materials choices to strict attention to Sun and Shadow patterns come into play. Management of such factors requires knowledge, experience and skill. Under harsh Sun exposure you will not want fabrics used that will quickly deteriorate! You won’t want a leisure area to be unbearably hot or cold and virtually unusable because primary exposures to heat, cold and light were handled ineffectively.
Investing whimsically in floor or window coverings not recommended for certain locations (with specifically vulnerable factors) could be very disappointing – and very expensive. Your professional Interior specialist knows how to appropriately handle weather sensitive transitional areas of Interior space, as well as spaces dedicated to relaxation!
When creating new Interior space, your Interior designer would be in partnership with your contractor to consider the best solutions for maximum benefit and management of weather-sensitive spaces – both static and transitional. And, where possible, new apertures like doors, passageways and windows would be created and designed with Sun and weather exposures taken into consideration.
Whether or not we like it, the Weather is here to stay, and we are here to live with it! Get the advice and guidance you need to do it right the first time!
