
LAKEPORT— According to a news release from the Lakeport Police Department, at about 8:10 PM Monday, officers were called to a medical business in the 800 Block of Parallel Drive to investigate the report of gasoline siphoning.
Officers responded and came across a green Dodge Ram 1500 pick up parked in the area. The car was unoccupied but officers could see an illegal weapon (metal knuckles) laying on the seat of the pick up. Three officers began checking the area and set up surveillance on the pick up and approximately 40 minutes later saw a man approach and enter it.
The man was subsequently arrested for felony possession of the metal knuckles according to law enforcement. The car was searched and officers found approximately $17,000 worth of medical equipment that was identified as being stolen from the medical business. Officers also found $500 worth of equipment that was identified as being stolen earlier in the day from the Lake County Fair. The California Highway Patrol – Clear Lake Office was investigating that case and also responded to the scene of the arrest.
The man was identified as Joshua Michael Covell, 31, of Loch Lomond, Ca. Covell was also charged with felony grand theft, possession of stolen property and tampering with a vehicle and taken to the Lake County Jail where he was booked.
