More on climate change
Letter-writer Leona M. Butts dismisses the threat posed by human-caused global warming.
However, in its report “Catastrophe Modelling and Climate Change,” Lloyd’s of London states that the eight inches of sea-level rise off the tip of Manhattan increased Superstorm Sandy’s surge losses by 30 percent, and that “Further increases in sea level in this region may non-linearly increase the loss potential from similar storms.”
This document also asserts that there is conclusive evidence that climate change is human-caused.
Moreover, in its 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review, the U.S. Department of Defense warns: “As greenhouse gas emissions increase, sea levels are rising, average global temperatures are increasing, and severe weather patterns are accelerating. These changes, coupled with other global dynamics,…will devastate homes, land and infrastructure.”
The U.S. military has expressed concern about climate change since the George W. Bush Administration, and dozens of Defense Department documents on this issue can be accessed at climateandsecurity.org.
It’s important to look to independent organizations like the insurance industry and the military when evaluating the threat posed by climate change. Because they depend on scientific evidence to assess risk, they are less amenable to politicized science.
Our common values like national security and concern for our children’s future should unify Americans on this issue. I’m heartened that the bipartisan Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act has been reintroduced in the House of Representatives. Let’s urge our members of Congress to work together and find a path to slow climate change.

Sale of Lucerne Hotel
What a joke the sale of the hotel is. The county purchased the hotel several years ago for $1.5 million dollars, they spent $3 million dollars remodeling and bringing it up to code. This is a total of $4.5 million dollars. The county then sold or rented it to Marymount College. I am not sure if they ever paid rent, PG&E, water or garbage? The question is did the college ever pay rent taxes or any services? The college then skipped out in the middle of the night, did we ever collect any money back from them? The building has remained empty for some time, up keep taxes and what ever it takes to maintain is not being paid; another big loss.
Tack these loses on to monies we lost on the sale of the building, this is a major loss, we also purchased the Harbor Marina in Nice that we have suffered a major loss on. When is it going to stop? Lake County has the worst roads in California, just drive down Lakeshore Blvd in Nice or in Lakeport. I have had to replace tires and front end parts just to be able to drive on our roads. Our total loss on the sale of this real estate could be in excess of $5 million dollars. We could fix a lot of roads and get much more services with this money.
How can we continue to lose money like this when we cant even keep our fire chief, sheriffs deputies and first responders in the county because we have no money.
Just think about it if you need an ambulance or fireman or sheriff for an emergency you could be out of luck. Our city and county officials are not going without their raises,company cars, gas cards, etc. People of Lake County are we going to continue to allow this type of extravagance with our tax dollars? Well there is one solution, lets all move to Idaho. God Bless America

Is the world ending in a dozen years?
Well I have seen it all now. The left are using children to promote Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “New Green Deal”? The Democrats have finally turned our schools into middle eastern madrassa’s, i.e.: the world is going to end in 12 years? Children demanding Diane Feinstein to end global warming in 12 years in my book is child abuse and abuse of real science.
I have been hearing this since the 70s when back then the world was going to end in an Ice Age in 20 years, computer models, garbage in garbage out? Or Al Gore “The Polar Ice Caps will be no longer by 2014,” and not one of his predictions have come true!!! I suggest you turn on the Science Channel and watch the Birth and Death of the Earth, i.e.: True Science not Al Gore science which bears no resemblance to true science.
It shows you how infinitesimally lucky we were in the formation of this planet and how it will die without any help from mankind! A video that should be required study for every child. And it is said AOC’s (D-NY) New Green Deal would end up costing more than the GDP of the entire world, starting off at nearly 100 trillion dollars, and this is what our colleges are teaching. Money grows on trees and you don’t have to pay it back. You want to talk about how far out of whack schools are, a student was banned from school for wearing a “MAGA” hat while every other expression of politics was condoned.
And now I see the far left loons are attacking middle America. Hey stupid, that’s where your food is grown, just try to buy food at a grocery store without middle America stocking your food shelves? You want to talk about living in a fake bubble.
And you on the left want health care for all except for babies born healthy during an abortion? You on the left are some sick sick puppies, i.e.: you wouldn’t do that to a puppy, in fact you would go to jail, but kill a human baby that’s all right. What’s next, euthanize old people because they are a burden on Health Care?
