We’re excited to kick off the first Lake County Chamber of Commerce Member Spotlight. Our Spotlights will feature deserving chamber members throughout Lake County that exemplify the spirit and community involvement that makes Lake County Strong. This month’s Spotlight is on Performance Mechanical, located in Clearlake. From its beginning in 2007, Performance Mechanical has been a trusted provider of heating and air conditioning services.
We spoke with owner Phil Harris about his journey as a community leader, being elected to the Clearlake City Council in 2016, to his dreams and expectations as the owner of one of the more successful businesses in Lake County. Phil and his wife Angie have enjoyed 25 years together and look forward to spending time with their 2 daughters while still maintaining an active role in many civic activities.
WHY ARE YOU A CHAMBER MEMBER?
We have a responsibility to the community to support each other. It’s important to support, not only the Chamber of Commerce, but all community organizations. By offering support, whether with dues, service or volunteer time, you’re helping in their continued growth and service to everyone in the county. I’d love to see more of the 2 Chambers working together, as they did when we requested a dual Ribbon Cutting recently at our new office.
WHAT’S AN INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW?

Be recognized in your community. Be noticed and seen as a company that is involved and working to be the best. Never waiver on trying to achieve a 100% satisfaction rating with your customers. We are very proud of our ratings on social media sites. Not only the ratings themselves, but all of people that took the time to review our service means a lot to me and my team. I will add that I welcome all entrepreneurs starting out, to contact me and I will offer advice, guidance and encouragement as they begin their new business.
WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING, WHERE IN THE AREA DO YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR TIME?
As I mentioned before, it is very important to me to give back. I enjoy being an active member in the Clearlake community, but if you ask me where I like to spend my time away from work, it is with my family. When you are building a successful business, it is important to remember that it is your family that needs to come first.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS’ FUTURE?
Interesting question because we are starting something that we have not done in years past. We have started taking on projects in outlying areas. Our concentration has always been in Lake County, and it will continue to be, but opening up to accept projects out of county is new and exciting for us as we continue to grow. We’re also working on some new licensing and certifications that will allow us to branch into other areas down the road. I’m excited about where Performance Mechanical is heading.
DO YOU HAVE ANY UPCOMING EVENTS OR OTHER INFORMATION TO SHARE WITH THE COMMUNITY?
I’m looking forward to be a part of the St. Judes Research Radiothon on March 14th & 15th on the local country stations; 105.9 KQPM and 107.1 KUKI. Wonderful organization that does terrific work for children in need. Of course, you’ll also see me and the team around the county participating and supporting the county as we like to do.
