NAPA — Three Lake County Channel Cats participated in a season-opening swim meet sponsored by the Napa Valley Swim Team on Saturday and Sunday.

Alora Nieto, 9, finished third in the 100-yard backstroke and Tori Tropf, 11, placed eighth in the 200 freestyle in the C division. Madelyn Madrzyk, 13, secured fifth-place finishes in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle in the B division. She also competed in the 200 breaststroke for the first time and placed third in the C division.

The Channel Cats, who don’t have a home pool at present, practice in the outdoor pool at Quail Run Fitness Center in Lakeport. The team is gearing up for its annual bingo night fundraiser March 23 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakeport Senior Center.
