LAKEPORT — Brothers Scott and Jay Strugnell of Lakeport collected the $600 first-place prize on Saturday as the Clear Lake Crappie Association held the third in a series of crappie tournaments on Clear Lake.

The Skylark Shores Resort in Lakeport served as tournament headquarters.

The Strugnell brothers weighed in a 10-fish limit of 22.23 pounds.

Second place went to the team of Pete Imhof and Glen Pocini with 21.03 pounds, including the big fish of the tournament, a 2.87-pound. They collected $450.

Third place and $150 went to the team of Aaron Jennings and Chris Young with 19.93 pounds. Mitchell and Mike Decker placed fourth with 19.88 pounds and received $100.

Rounding out the top five places were Paul and Gregg Lemler with 19.21 pounds.

Nine big fish weighed in were in excess of 2 pounds. The 2.87-pounder caught by Imhof and Pocini was the biggest fish taken in either of the first three crappie tournaments.

Despite ideal weather conditions for the tournament — sunny skies and temperatures in the high-70s — only 20 teams participated in the 100-percent payback tournament, down from each of the first two tournaments.
