CLOVERDALE — The stage is set for a first-place showdown between the red-hot Kelseyville High School tennis team and the St. Helena Saints, defending Coastal Mountain Conference champions.

Kelseyville (6-1) hosts St. Helena (7-0) on Thursday at 4 p.m., needing a win to secure a share of the conference title. The Knights have their work cut out as the Saints won the first conference meeting 5-0 back on March 19 in St. Helena.

Since dropping its conference opener to St. Helena, Kelseyville has reeled off six straight wins, including a 3-2 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Cloverdale where the Knights captured all three singles matches while losing twice in doubles.

Kelseyville winners were Justin Perez, 6-1, 6-4 over Javier Hernandez in first singles; Bodhi Baird, 6-2, 6-2 over Arizbeth Gamez in second singles; and Allison Bryant, 6-3, 6-4 over Jimmy Pope in third singles.

Cloverdale’s Leo Lara and Ivan Quezada beat Dylan Vargas and Connor Molloy 6-3, 6-1 in first doubles, and the Eagles prevailed again in second doubles as Citllay Lopez and Alexis Leyva beat Katie Luce and Jeffrey Amendola 6-3, 6-4.

Kelseyville also won twice in exhibition play. Kian Naamipuran prevailed 6-0 in singles while Russel White and Danelle Maglietta won 6-4 in doubles.
