ST. HELENA — Enjoying their best weather of what has been a rainy and cold 2019 season, the golfers of the Coastal Mountain Conference South descended on Meadowood Golf Club on a near-perfect spring afternoon Wednesday in St. Helena.

“It was beautiful … 75 degrees, a light breeze the whole time,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said. “Thank God.”

Undefeated South leader St. Vincent won its fourth straight conference match, posting a team total of 255 (combined lowest four individual rounds) on the par-58 Meadowood course.

“There were a lot of par-3s,” Berry said.

St. Helena finished second with 302 and was followed by Middletown (339) and Kelseyville (344). Credo and Tech are both on spring break this week — as is Middletown — and did not field complete teams (at least four golfers). Geyserville was a no-show once again and has yet to attend a single South match this season.

The low individual round went to Bennett Adams of St. Vincent with a 1-over-par 59. Other team leaders were Mason Ellis of St. Helena with 71, Lalo Sepulveda of Kelseyville with 73, Joziah Pyzer of Middletown with 75, Quinn Kokotas of Credo with 84 and Ryan Sanford of Tech with 101. Middletown’s Austin Pritchard finished just one shot behind team leader Pyzer with a 76. Kelseyville’s Cory Holt fired a 77 that included one birdie.

The South teams meet again Tuesday at Foxtail South in Rohnert Park, a makeup of a match rained out on March 20. They play again two days later at Windsor Golf Club, which is the first half of the CMC South Championship, a qualifier for the North Coast Section Championships on May 6.
