KELSEYVILLE — Kelseyville’s bid to pull even with St. Helena atop the Coastal Mountain Conference tennis standings ended with a 4-1 loss to the undefeated Saints on Thursday afternoon in Kelseyville.

It was the regular-season finale for both squads.

The Knights (6-2), who had a six-match winning streak snapped since losing 5-0 to St. Helena last month in the conference opener for both teams, did managed to win one match this time around. That victory went to Bodhi Baird in second singles, 6-4, 6-2 over Ivan Rodriguez.

Kelseyville had a chance to win in second doubles as well but St. Helena’s George Conwell and Diego Velasquez rallied to beat Kian Naamipuran and Hanna Scully, 6-7 (8-6), 7-5, 10-5 (a 10-point tiebreaker was played in lieu of a third set).

In other action, Kellen Maher beat Justin Perez 6-3, 6-4 in first singles and Lisa Butala defeated Katie Luce 6-1, 6-2. In first doubles, Antoine Parr and Alex Sklan beat Dylan Vargas and Connor Molloy 6-3, 6-1.

Kelseyville and all the other conference teams return to action April 26-27 for the CMC Championships at Mendocino College in Ukiah. Boys and girls singles and doubles champions will be crowned during the two-day tournament.
