Quilt show
The Grapevine Quilters of Ukiah will present its Sixth Annual Quilt Show, “Quilts in Bloom”, on Saturday, May 4 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, May 5 from 10am to 4pm at Carl Purdy Hall at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds in Ukiah. Featured at the show will be a display of handmade quilts both new and antique, vendors, “make & take” demos, theme baskets, a silent auction, door prizes and more.
This year’s special feature is Mel Beach, an Aurifil Artisan who was featured on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. She is a San Jose based quilt artist, teacher, and lecturer who breaks away from tradition by adding her own modern, beautifully textured, and vibrant twist. Mel loves stretching her creativity through quilt challenges at the local and international level.
Grapevine Quilters is a nonprofit organization of like-minded quilters interested in the art of quilting through obtaining not only the knowledge, skills, and appreciation of quilting, but also sharing and contributing to the community through charitable endeavors such as quilts to victims of our recent fires, and quilts for children in the care of Child Protective Services. Quilters also contribute to local service organizations by donating handmade quilts for their moneymaking events such as raffles. Members are gathered together from Ukiah, Willits, Covelo, Potter Valley, Lakeport, Upper Lake and Cloverdale.
Tickets are $10 and available at the door, or presale at Beverly Fabrics, Village Sewing, Mendocino Book Store, Kerris’ Quilting (Lakeport), and Bolt (Cloverdale).
