LAKEPORT — At the Lake County Fairgrounds on Easter Sunday, dozens of kids could be spotted staring intently at the ground, hunting for treasure.

They were hunting for Easter eggs—2,880 Easter eggs, to be precise—at the long-running Lakeport Rotary Club Easter Egg Hunt, which was in its 93rd year. With so many notches in its belt and thousands of eggs hidden each year, the event has stashed over 260,000 eggs.

Egg hunters were divided into age-specific groups to match difficulty with skill. Among the 2,880 eggs, 300 were specially designated “pay eggs,” which could be exchanged for money.
