BLUE LAKES — Keep your eyes open this coming weekend, as Lake County Model A club rolls through its 25th annual Spring Opener.
Close to 100 Model A participants from Northern and Central California will be attending the road rally and accompanying festivities. Model A cars were produced by the Ford Motor Company from 1928 to 1931. They came in many different body styles and colors. Ford also produced pickups and AA trucks.
The Lodge at Blue Lakes will be hosting the events. Several motels and other lodging have been reserved in the Northshore area for attendees. Welcoming refreshments and registration will be at the Blue Lakes Lodge on Friday with evening dinner.
Saturday’s Model A Tours will start lining up at 8:40 a.m. at the Upper Lake Park on Highway 20 and proceed to Clearlake for a rest stop and then continue on to Highway 29, Seigler Canyon Rd to Highway 175, to Red Hills Road, to Soda Bay Road and then up to Riviera Golf and Country Restaurant for lunch. Saturday evening dinner and entertainment will be back at the Blue Lakes Lodge. Sunday, attendees will be on their own for sightseeing in Lake County before returning home.
