LAKE COUNTY — Maxine Rose Glimme (Kugleman), has lived in Lake County for a very long time.

On March 14, she celebrated her 99th birthday.

Born in 1920 in her Kugleman family home in Lower Lake, Glimme went on to graduate from Lower Lake High School. After retiring from the Bay Area to her homestead, she sold Toll Paintings from her home on Kugleman Ranch in the late 1990s to the early 2000s.

Glimme opened Alice’s Book Store in Middletown in 2004, then relocated it to Clearlake. After the bookstore closed, she became a docent for Lower Lake Museum, donating much of her family’s possessions, photos and history to the institution.
