MIDDLETOWN — The most prolific scorer in Lake County high school soccer history, Hannah Diaz of Middletown High School, has signed a contract with the French professional club FC Fleury 91 Coeur d’Essonne — Feminines, which plays in France’s top women’s division, Division 1 Feminine.
Diaz, a four-time North Central League I most valuable player for the Mustangs (2010-13), attended Saint Mary’s College in Moraga before turning professional. She spent her first pro season (2018-19) as a starter for LOSC, a French team in Division 2 Feminine. Her contract with FC Fleury runs through the 2019-20 season.
During her Middletown playing days for former coaches Louise Owens and Lee Hoage, Diaz led the Mustangs to four straight league titles as well as back-to-back North Coast Section championship game appearances in 2012-13. Middletown upset No. 1 seed Sonoma Academy in the 2012 finals before losing to the top-seeded Coyotes in the 2013 title rematch.
Hannah’s older sister, Natalie, also played soccer for Middletown (Class of 2011).

Diaz graduated from Saint Mary’s tied for fourth all-time in goals and fifth in points. She earned All-West Coast Conference first-team honors as a sophomore, junior and senior as well as first-team academic honors as a junior and senior. When she was named to the All-West Coast Conference first team following her sophomore season in 2015, she was the first Gael to receive first-team honors since 2011. As a senior in 2017, she led the Gaels in goals, assists, points, game-winning goals and shots attempted.
Diaz is a client of Upper V Athlete Management, an agency focusing on the representation and management of professional soccer players.
