LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Record-Bee will announce its Athlete of the Year winners for the 2018-19 high school sports season in the July 11 print edition of the newspaper.

The county’s top male and female athletes have been honored by the county’s daily newspaper since the 1987-88 sports season (yearly winners on listed on Page A9). Athlete of the Year candidates must be junior or seniors who compete in at least two varsity sports and are in good academic standing at their respective high schools. Finalists for the award are selected by the Record-Bee based on results from the 2018-19 sports season and a season’s worth of input from county and out-of-county coaches. Athlete of the Year is not a career achievement award and schools can have more than one finalist in either the girls sports or boys sports categories.

Girls sports finalists in 2018-19 are Grace Davidson (senior) and Allison Bryant (junior) of Kelseyville, Kassi Agapoff (senior), Grace Southern (senior) and Kelsey Lemoine (senior) of Middletown High School, and Adriana Lopez (senior) of Upper Lake High School.

Boys sports finalists in 2018-19 are Rodrigo Lupercio (senior) of Clear Lake, Adrian Villlalobos (senior) and Alex Garcia (senior) of Kelseyville, Junior Fernandez (senior) of Upper Lake, and Jared Pyzer (junior) and Drake Harbison (senior) of Middletown.

The Record-Bee also will honor its Coach of the Year winners for boys and girls sports next week.
