BUCKINGHAM — Austin Pritchard of Hidden Valley Lake captured the Buckingham Summer Junior Golf Tournament on Monday at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.
Pritchard was an all-Coastal Mountain Conference golfer for Middletown High School this past spring. He has played an active summer schedule, most recently competing in the two-day Napa Junior Amateur at Silverado Country Club, the home of the PGA Tour’s Safeway Classic. Pritchard qualified for the North Coast Section playoffs at Peacock Gap in May and recorded the low score among the four Lake County contestants in the 144-golfer field.
Pritchard opened play with a 44 on Buckingham’s front nine and then played the inward nine in 42 strokes for a total score of 14-over-par 86. Pritchard said he lacked familiarity with the Buckingham course but did acknowledge that he putted well on the greens and that his short game was solid.
Boys
Cory Holt of Clear Lake Riviera, a second-team All-Conference golfer from Kelseyville High School during the spring, won the age 16-17 boys division with a score of 99. His score was second overall among the junior golfers in the field. Andrew Martz of Cobb came in third overall with a score of 111. Martz is a student at Middletown High School.
In the boys 14-15 division, Miles Mattina of Lakeport won his age bracket with a score of 112. Mattina is a member of the golf team at Clear Lake High School and he too participated in the NCS playoffs this past spring at Peacock Gap. Mattina’s Clear Lake teammate, Nathon Lopez of Finley, carded a score of 126.
In the boys 12-13 flight, Charles Johnson of Kelseyville was the winner with a score of 119. Johnson is entering seventh grade at Mountain Vista Middle School.

In the boys 11-12 year division, Ethan Gambill of Clear Lake Riviera won a tightly contested battle with Billy Witt of Clear Lake Riviera. Gambill shot a 68 for nine holes while Witt carded a 69.
Girls
Sarah Parlee of Lakeport won the girls division of the Buckingham Summer Junior for the third consecutive year. Parlee shot a solid 51 for nine holes. She will compete for the Kelseyville High School golf team next year. Maddie Witt of Clear Lake Riviera finished runner-up with a score of 64. Witt is entering her senior year at Kelseyville High School.
A total of 10 junior golfers from Lake County participated in the tournament, which was sponsored by the Buckingham Ladies Club, the Buckingham Tournament Players Club, and the Wotherspoon family.
