ROHNERT PARK — Seneca Snow returned to the Upper Lake High School lineup and registered nine kills in only two sets as the Cougars swept Technology 25-16, 25-18, 25-23 in North Central League II varsity volleyball action on Thursday evening in Rohnert Park.
Snow, who missed the Cougars’ league-opening loss to Calistoga on Tuesday because of the death of her grandmother, sat out the first set but played in the final two as Upper Lake squared its NCL II record at 1-1.
“It was nice to see her,” Upper Lake coach Dani Paige Gudmundson Pena said of her senior middle hitter.
Snow wasn’t the only Cougar who played well in the straight-set victory. Kaila Willard led the team with 10 kills while Alana Sanchez added four kills and a team-high five blocks.
“They looked really good,” Pena said of the Cougars’ overall effort. “Definitely their best game this season.”
One of the keys to the win was communication between the Upper Lake players.
“Our communication was a lot better tonight,” Pena said.
The Cougars are right back on the court Friday when they host Roseland College Prep. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m. with the varsity match to follow.
There was no JV match on Thursday as Technology does not field a JV team.
