UPPER LAKE — Sophomore Karlee Zimmerschied added three more goals to her season tally and the Upper Lake Cougars celebrated homecoming week with a 3-0 victory over the Laytonville Warriors in North Central League III girls soccer action Wednesday afternoon in Upper Lake.
Zimmerschied scored twice in the first half and added her final goal in the second half as the Cougars improved to 8-3 on the season.
“Laytonville has a pretty good team,” Upper Lake coach Daniella Santana said. “They have a really strong forward who can also play goalie.”
Tasked with neutralizing the Warriors’ top weapon were a trio of Upper Lake players, Harmony Byrd, Kathleen Geary-Lopez and Maddy Young.
“Overall everyone did really well,” Santana said. “We controlled the game for the most part.”
