HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE— Dubbed the “Grove Fire” by Cal Fire, a vegetation fire that broke out Thursday night in the Hidden Valley Lake area on Highway 29 near Spruce Grove Road prompted evacuations for Conestoga Road, Firethorne Road and Eagle Rock Road nearby. First reported at three acres in size just after 8 p.m., the blaze’s forward progress was reported stopped by 11 p.m. According to Cal Fire, the fire was fully contained at 25 acres. The fire damaged no structures and resulted in no injuries, according to Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin. By 8:50 p.m., per scanner reports, evacuations had been lifted. An evacuation center was in the process of being established at the Twin Pines Casino in Middletown, but according to the Lake County Office of Emergency Services, as of 10 p.m. Thursday, all evacuation orders had been lifted, and residents were advised they could return home.Cal Fire did not report the cause of the fire.
