
MIDDLETOWN — Running on a 5-kilometer course carved out of the school’s campus, the Middletown Mustangs felt right at home while dominating a four-team Coastal Mountain Conference cross country meet Wednesday afternoon.
Clear Lake, Kelseyville and Fort Bragg joined the Mustangs as they hosted their final meet of the season. Afterward coach Annie Schneider honored her six seniors — Giana Tyrrell, Mariela Martin del Campo, Tyler Cobb, Jordan Rego, Carson Schaffer and Hagan Cadwallader.
Varsity boys
Isaac Rascon of Middletown won by a 33-second margin over Remy Namvar of Fort Bragg, clocking in at 16 minutes, 44 seconds to Namvar’s 17:17. Tyler Cobb (17:53) was the only other runner to crack 18 minutes as he finished a solid third. Isaiah Diaz (18:05) of Middletown and Quinn Wynacht (18:26) of Clear Lake rounded out the top five.

Each of the next eight runners to finish were from Middletown, led by Parker Boden (18:27), who was followed across the finish line by Caleb Cobb (18:40), Cadwallader (18:41), Xander Romero (18:43), Rego (18:58), Kevin Nance (18:59), Javier Perez (19:31), and Filemon Sanchez (19:54).
Rounding out the top 15 were Kelseyville runners Beau Marek (20:14) and Matthew Harris (20:39).
Middletown defeated Kelseyville in head-to-head scoring to remain undefeated in the conference standings.
Girls
Middletown sophomore Brooklyn Huffman cruised to an easy win in the girls race with a time of 20:24. Freshmen teammates Nicole Pyzer (21:05) and Maya Leonard (21:33) finished second and third, respectively, while Middletown’s Erica Kinsel (21:48) and Tyrrell (22:57) rounded out the top five.

Placing in the top 10 were three more Middletown runners — Alyssa Terry (23:14), Martin del Campo (23:49) and Ximena Ramirez (23:57) — along with Fort Bragg’s Madeleine Dondanville (24:54) and Kelseyville’s Skye Mateer (25:16).
Fort Bragg’s top runner, Dylan Hutchinson, did not compete.
Middletown beat Kelseyville in head-to-head scoring to remain perfect in the CMC standings.
JV boys
Fort Bragg had the only complete junior varsity boys team (at least five runners). Roy Ross of the Timberwolves won the race in 22:52, nearly a minute and a half ahead of teammate Branden Myers (24:15).
Schedule
Middletown’s final CMC meet is next Wednesday at Lower Lake where Cloverdale and Willits will also participate. The CMC Championships follow on Nov. 13. The Mustangs are defending North Central League I champions in both the girls and varsity boys divisions.
