KELSEYVILLE — Undefeated North Central League I champion Kelseyville hosts Justin-Siena of Napa in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division 4 volleyball playoffs Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Kelseyville High School.

Kelseyville is the No. 3 seed in the 16-team Division 4 playoff bracket. Only No. 1 Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa) and No. 2 University High School (San Francisco) are seeded higher than the Knights, the five-time defending NCL I champions.

A victory over Justin-Siena, the fourth-place team out of the Vine Valley Athletic League, would put the Knights back home Saturday’s for a quarterfinal match against the winner of a first-round match between No. 6 Roseland University Prep (Santa Rosa) of the NCL II and No. 11 Fort Bragg, the third-place team out of the NCL I.

Division 4 semifinals are Nov. 6 at the home sites of the highest surviving seeds and the sectional championship game is Nov. 9 at a location to be determined.

Kelseyville is one of only two Lake County volleyball teams to qualify for the postseason in 2019. The other is Clear Lake, which received an at-large berth in the 16-team Division 5 playoffs.

The Cardinals reached the postseason despite placing sixth in the NCL I standings this season with a 5-9 mark. At 16-16 overall and 7-2 against Division 5 teams this season, they met the criteria to apply for an at-large berth, which they received Sunday along with the No. 9 seed.

Clear Lake hits the road Tuesday for a 7 p.m. first-round match against No. 9 seed Sonoma Academy (Santa Rosa), the third-place team out of the NCL II. The winner advances to the quarterfinals Saturday and will play the winner of a Thursday first-round match between No. 1 seed Marin Academy (San Rafael) and No. 16 Salesian (Richmond). That match will take place at the home site of the highest surviving seed.

Semifinal matches are Nov. 6 at the home sites of the highest surviving seeds. The Division 5 championship game is Nov. 9, the location to be determined.

The top three seeds in Division 5 are Marin Academy, Bentley (Lafayette) and St. Vincent (Petaluma).
