
KELSEYVILLE — Jake Soderquist rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns as the Westshore Junior Cardinals beat the Kelseyville Chiefs 27-12 in a varsity game Sunday during Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football action at Kelseyville.
Westshore wins the North division with a 10-0 record while Kelseyville wins the South at 8-2. The same two teams will meet again in the varsity championship game Saturday in Middletown.
Westshore built a 20-0 lead on the strength of two Soderquist touchdown runs and another by Hank Ollenberger. Kelseyville closed to 20-6 in the second quarter on a six-yard interception return for a touchdown.
In the second half, Soderquist scored on a 60-yard run in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Kelseyville picked up its final points on a long touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Caleb Williams and William Henry intercepted passes for Westshore.
Kelseyville bounced back from an 0-10 record in 2018 to win the South this season.

At Kelseyville, the Kelseyville junior varsity team ended its season with another close game in a battle of evenly matched teams.
Maddox Velez Pounds intercepted pass for Kelseyville (4-5) and Max Lee, Kimo Brown, Micheal Doughty and Ryan Keithly turned in solid performances for the Knights.
Westshore finishes with a 4-6 record.
Kelseyville 35, Westshore 6 (PeeWees)
At Kelseyville, the Kelseyville Knights PeeWees ended their season with a big win over Westshore, Deake Lyndall and Case Pivniska led the Knights, who finished 7-2-1 overall, good for second place in the South standings behind Middletown (9-0-1).

For the varsity, divisional champions are iWestshore (10-0) in the North and Kelseyville (8-2) in the South. For the JVs, it’s Fort Bragg (8-1) in the North and Middletown (10-0) in the South. For the PeeWees, it’s Willits (7-3) in the North and Middletown (9-0-1) in the South.
