Forsythe scores ace

BUCKINGHAM — New member Bruce Forsythe fired a hole-in-one on the 141-yard, par-3 third hole Oct. 29 at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

It was the first ace of Forsythe’s 10-plus years as a golfer. He used a 7-iron and the shot was witnessed by playing partners Manny Mendoza and Ted Knowles.

Puff Daddys win title

BUCKINGHAM — Puff Daddys recently wrapped up the Fall Twilight League team championship at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

In the final standings, it was Puff Daddys with 130 points to 115 for Carolina & Co., 110 each for Legal Eagles and Chop Sueys, 105 for the Buckingham Boys, and 70 for Fairway to Heaven.

During the final round of play Oct. 24, Ted Mattila won closest-to-the-pin honors on No. 2, Juan Lopez won on No. 3, and Darren Hostetler won on No. 6.

The Buckingham Boys’ team of Mike Petterson, Kevin Ryan, Manny Mendoza and Jesse Santana fired the low gross round of the week, combining for a 30 during the front-nine scramble.

CLHS alumni basketball

LAKEPORT — Clear Lake High School will hold alumni men’s and women’s basketball games on Nov. 27 at the school’s gym. The women’s game tips off at 5 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 6:30 p.m.

Alumni can sign up at the door for $30, which includes a T-shirt. There is no charge for fans but donations will be accepted. All proceeds will be split between Clear Lake’s boys and girls basketball programs.

Tennis league hours

KELSEYVILLE — The Konocti Junior Tennis League meets Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays at the Gard Street courts for the fall, winter and spring seasons, weather permitting.

Instruction is provided for junior players and all interested youth ages 8 -18. There is no fee to play. Racquets are provided, but please bring water to drink.

Larrea tourney Dec. 6-7

LAKEPORT — The second annual Paul Larrea Memorial Tournament, a fundraiser for the Clear Lake High School boys basketball program, takes place Dec. 6-7 at the Clear Lake High gym in Lakeport.

Sponsored by the CLHS Sports Foundation and The Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake, the round-robin-format tournament consists of varsity and junior varsity brackets.

The varsity field features defending champion Clear Lake, Vacaville Christian, The Bay School (San Francisco) and Aspire Langston Hughes Academy of Stockton. The JV field features defending champion Clear Lake, Vacaville Christian, College Prep (Oakland) and Silver Oak Academy (Hayward).

Teams in both brackets play one game on Friday and two games on Saturday. Tournament awards include the Ryan Mayer MVP and the Mark Elsa 3-point awards, both named after the late Clear Lake stars.

The Dec. 6 schedule (Friday) is as follows: Silver Oak JV vs. Vacaville Christian JV at 3 p.m.; College Prep JV vs. Clear Lake JV at 4:30 p.m.; Bay School varsity vs Vacaville Christian varsity at 6 p.m.; Langston Hughes varsity vs. Clear Lake varsity at 7:30 p.m.

The Dec. 7 schedule (Saturday) is as follows: Vacaville Christian JV s. College Prep JV at 9 a.m.; Silver Oak JV vs. Clear Lake JV at 10:30 a.m.; Vacaville Christian varsity vs. Langston Hughes varsity at noon; Bay School varsity vs. Clear Lake varsity at 1:30 p.m.; 3-point JV and varsity contests at 2:45 p.m.; Silver Oak JV vs. College Prep JV at 3:15 p.m., Vacaville Christian JV vs. Clear Lake JV at 4:45 p.m.; Langston Hughes varsity vs. Bay School varsity at 6:15 p.m.; and Vacaville Christian varsity vs. Clear Lake varsity at 7:45 p.m.

The Paul Larrea Memorial Tournament honors the longtime Clear Lake High teacher, counselor and coach who died in October of 2017.
