FORESTVILLE — Middletown High School’s Jayde Miles opened her 2019-20 wrestling season with a fourth-place finish Saturday at the inaugural Lady Lions Wrestling Tournament at El Molino High School in Forestville.
Miles, a sophomore, went 2-2 in her first action of the season. As a freshman last season, she just missed winning a medal at 116 pounds in the North Coast Section Championships, losing in the blood round.
“She was a win away from a medal,” Middletown coach Brian Hunt said.
Miles had to compete against wrestlers in her own weight class (121) as well as 126-pounders at El Molino, according to Hunt.
“There weren’t enough 121-pounders to field a division, so they combined 121 and 126,” Hunt said. “She had two nice wins. We wanted to go there and knock some of the rust off. We’re looking forward to the season.”
Middletown’s girls jump right back into action Saturday when they travel to the Rancho Cotate Tournament in Rohnert Park.
