LAKE COUNTY — When you win your league 12 years in a row, you better believe the rewards will follow and such is the case on the 2019 edition of the All-North Central League I girls soccer team as recently voted upon by the league’s coaches.
Middletown, the 12-time defending champion and the North Coast Section Division 1 champ in 2019, landed eight players on the squad, four of them on the first team.
Leading the way for the Mustangs, who posted a perfect 14-0 record in the league standings, is most valuable player Sophie Kucer, a junior. It’s the second straight MVP award for Kucer, who led the team with 51 goals during a 21-3-1 campaign, one that ended with a 17-game winning streak. It’s also the third straight year she’s been named to the first team.
Joining Kucer on the first team were teammates Olivia Kucer, a junior and Sophie’s sister; junior Brie Alves, and freshman Ellary Isherwood.

Two other Lake County players, Clear Lake senior Lexi Tejada and Kelseyville senior Paola Cacho, also earned first-team honors.
Named to the All-League second team were Middletown sophomores Georgia Guerrero and Paige Astley, Clear Lake senior Mavis Pyorre and Clear Lake junior Angie Garnica, and Kelseyville sophomore Diana Cortez.
Honorable mentions went to five Lake County players, including Middletown senior Abby Sabater and sophomore teammate Zamora Rogers. Also honored were Clear Lake freshman Mikayla Fifield, Kelseyville junior Paula Vargas, and Lower Lake senior Michaela Stone.

After Middletown’s eight total All-League selections, league runner-up Cloverdale had the next most with seven followed by St. Helena with six, Clear Lake with four, Fort Bragg and Kelseyville with three apiece, Willits with two and Lower Lake with one.
