AMERICAN CANYON— You might not have known that anyone was running against Rep. Mike Thompson until now, and you might not have heard his name, but Jason Kishineff, 50, is a longtime resident of the area. Kishineff is representing the progressive wing of the Democratic Party and he is on a mission to get corporate influences out of the United States electoral system. How does he propose to accomplish such a task, you may ask. Well, he’s not alone. Progressives like Kishineff are running, and winning, elections all over the country. Together they plan to pass a Constitutional amendment prohibiting corporate campaign contributions, and making elections publicly funded. Why?
Well, Kishineff believes that our planet is at risk from climate change, fracking, military pollution and an ever-growing network of oil pipelines. He believes that healthcare, college education and housing should be considered human rights. Kishineff believes in de-militarized policing. He believes that our water is contaminated in many places and should be cleaned up. Jason believes that wars for profits and oil should be halted. And he also believes that no one who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty. In fact, Kishineff said he believes that the growing gap between rich and poor is largely responsible for a great deal of crime. Kishineff added that he believes that almost none of his vision for America can happen as long as corporate America is influencing our politicians with money.
Kishineff said he is also a candidate who is refusing all donations from corporate super PACs, which makes him unusual, and gives him a financial disadvantage right off the bat- but its a disadvantage that Jason seems to embrace. Jason’s belief is that if enough people rise up together, no amount of money can stop them, and he is asking you to rise up with him. Jason believes that both parties have failed to represent labor, failed to represent the environment, failed to represent immigrants, failed the anti-war movement and failed the American people as a whole.
Kishineff said he is expecting that his message of justice will resonate with a very large amount of people, which will rise up with him, and sweep him into office. Does that sound nuts? Not as nutty as decades of failed and destructive foreign and domestic policies. Kishineff is aligned with all who are sick and tired of business as usual. And Kishineff is not alone. He is endorsed by the California Progressive Alliance, Suscol Intertribal Council Director Charlie Toledo, former Richmond Mayor Gail McLaughlin, former Cotati Vice Mayor Pia Jensen, former Napa Valley College Trustee Amy Martenson, former Vallejo School Board Member Ruscal Cayangyang and former Saint Helena School Board Member Alex Shantz.
Kishineff is an activist who has been involved in stopping the Orcem Cement Factory in Vallejo, protecting the watersheds of Napa Valley, the struggle for justice against police violence in Vallejo, asking local Napa County governments to fly the Pride Flag for Pride Month, getting RoundUp banned in American Canyon, advocating for cannabis access in Napa, American Canyon, Vallejo and Benicia. Jason has signed the CFAR, or Contract For American Renewal and has signed an agreement to co-sponsor a term limits bill. Kishineff is also ready to answer any and all of your questions.
