The Clear Lake Gleaners, Food Bank of Lake County, held their annual general meeting on Dec. 13., 2019
The meeting was presided over by President Beverly Westphal who informed the 55 volunteers in attendance of various requirements concerning food distributions held at all the locations around Lake County. Meeting all health and safety requirements is essential as well as having the sites open for the entire time advertised. We have been providing commodities to approximately 1,500 families monthly from 12 sites throughout Lake County.
Our next distribution will be Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at all sites except Spring Valley which will be Jan. 16., 2020. Food is distributed to the Clear Lake Gleaners from USDA and also purchased from Redwood Empire. Juan Dominguez, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors spoke of our search for a new warehouse as we are out-growing our current space which is the Finley Firehouse. Fundraising and donations are essential to our accomplishing the purchase of a new building. Volunteers have been requested to serve on a committee to research fundraising capabilities. Clear Lake Gleaners contact number is 707-263-8082. The meeting with training for the volunteers preceded a luncheon catered by Klark Raetz. The luncheon was followed with a Merry Christmas “white elephant” gift exchange.
