Local academic achiever

Slade Patrick Darrin of Lakeport was named to the Dean’s List at the Berklee College of Music for the 2019 Fall semester. This is Darrin’s third time receiving this honor since transferring to the school in the Spring of 2019. He is a junior majoring in Electronic Music Production and Sound Design and maintains a 4.0 grade point average.

To be included on the Dean’s List with Berklee College of Music, a student must be earning at least six credits per semester and achieve a grade point average of 3.60 or above. Berklee is the preeminent institute of contemporary music and the performing arts. The school’s main campus is located in Boston, Massachusetts with a satellite campus in Valencia, Spain. The students and faculty are comprised of a dynamic and diverse global arts community and hail from over 100 nations around the world.

Berklee College of Music’s dedication to the arts is reflected in its students, faculty, and alumni – hundreds of whom have been recognized with Grammy, Tony, Oscar, and Emmy awards.

Ladies of the Quilt to meet February 8

Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild will meet on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at 10 A.M. at the Lakeport Senior Center, 527 Konocti Avenue. Linda Ballard will show us that there is something for everyone who quilts. Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild welcomes all quilters at meetings and events. The Mendocino-Lake Community College District Krenov School to Host its Annual Midwinter Exhibition

The Krenov School, the Fine Woodworking Program at Mendocino College, is pleased to announce its Annual Midwinter Exhibition, running February 1 through 9, 2020 at The Cypress Street Barn, an exciting new collaborative woodworking space and gallery in Fort Bragg, CA. At the reception on February 7—which runs from 5 to 8 p.m.—visitors will be able to interact with the pieces and meet the 23 talented and determined artists behind them. The Cypress Street Barn is located at 369 Cypress Street in Fort Bragg CA.

At the show, a raffle will be held to generate funds for the school – Raffle tickets are $10 each and will be available at the exhibition. The drawing will take place at the end of the run of the exhibition.
