UPPER LAKE — All five starters on Upper Lake’s varsity girls basketball team have been named to the All-North Central League II squad as recently selected by the league’s coaches.

Heaven’Lee Loans Arrow, one of three freshman starters for the league-champion Cougars, was named co-most valuable player along with Sonoma Academy senior Lizbeth Castillo.

Among those players earning first-team honors was Upper Lake sophomore Zoey Petrie.

Second-team honors went to Upper Lake freshman Maddy Young and senior Alana Sanchez, and freshman Madison Noble received an honorable mention.

Upper Lake went 7-1 to win the outright NCL II championship. Runner-up Sonoma Academy had the next-most All-League players with four.

Upper Lake sophomore guard Zoey Petrie received first-team honors on the All-North Central League II basketball team. All five Cougars starters earned some sort of honor on the team.

The Cougars, 22-5 overall, travel to Portola on Tuesday for a first-round game against the Tigers (29-3) in the NorCal playoffs. Tip-off is 7 p.m. If the No. 9-seeded Cougars prevail, they’ll advance to the quarterfinals on Thursday against the winner of a first-round game between No. 1 seed West Valley (Cottonwood) and No. 16 Le Grand. That game will take place at the home site of the highest surviving seed.
