LAKE COUNTY — A fourth case of coronavirus was reported in Lake County on Friday.
The patient was under home isolation as of Friday afternoon, according to data from Lake County Public Health. No further information regarding the case was released by health officials by press time.
Lake County’s first confirmed case of coronavirus was reported early this week—nearly two months after the first cases began to show up in the Bay Area. Every county surrounding Lake had reported at least one case of the virus by the time a patient was identified locally.
In a video update Thursday afternoon—prior to news of the fourth case—Lake County Public Health Officer Dr. Gary Pace posited that the potential for the virus to have spread widely in Lake County from the first three patients was low.
“The three people that have been identified in Lake County were doing a good job of trying to not mix out in public, and one of them was wearing a mask at work,” Pace said. “That started after she caught the infection. So we think that the spread has been fairly minimal.”
Public health workers are checking the individuals’ possible contacts and the patients are all isolating at home, Pace said.
Noting that “people are asking a lot about the cases,” Pace said his department would continue to decline releasing more information about the patients.
“It really doesn’t change anything. If you knew it was in one certain area but it hadn’t been found yet in another area, it really doesn’t allow you to let down your guard.”
In total, 238 negative test results from Lake County had been received by local health officials as of Friday.
