REDDING, CA (April 15, 2020) – United Way of Northern California (UWNC) today announced its second round of grants to North State non-profit organizations addressing social services needs emerging from the Coronavirus crisis. Top priorities for United Way’s grant program are organizations helping senior citizens acquire food and other necessities; food pantries and food distribution; agencies helping dislocated workers make ends meet; and agencies serving disadvantaged populations, unsheltered individuals and those at risk of homelessness.
Second-round grant awardees include:
- Disability Action Center, $2,500, to support Western Service Workers Association benefits for
low-income employees who have lost jobs - Good News Rescue Mission, $3,000, for safety and sanitation supplies
- Happy Camp Community Action Inc., $8,000, for emergency assistance to low-income families
- KIXE-TV, $2,500, to create content on coping tools and accessing support
- Oroville Rescue Mission, $8,000, for portable shower and safety supplies
- Siskiyou Community Food Bank, $8,000, for food and other assistance to seniors and the
homeless - Tri Counties Community Action Partnership, $5,000, to purchase and deliver food to vulnerable
populations - Trinity County Food Bank, $5,000, for operational support
- True North Housing Alliance, Inc., $8,000, for essential supplies to serve the homeless
UWNC now has provided a total of $97,000 in grants to 16 agencies during the COVID-19 crisis. A third round of grants will be awarded in two weeks. Agencies in North State counties can apply by visiting this link: bit.ly/covidgrant
