MENDOCINO COUNTY — California state corrections officers apprehended a man who had walked away from his detainment at a minimum-custody conservation camp in Fort Bragg.

Richard Solorzano, 32, was found at about 2 p.m. Thursday just outside of camp grounds, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said.

Solorzano had been determined missing from the Parlin Fork Conservation Camp after a population count Wednesday evening, when camp staff discovered Solorzano was not in his assigned bunk.

On Thursday, Solorzano was apprehended by correctional center investigators and special agents from the CDCR. Cal Fire, the California Highway Patrol and local law enforcement assisted in the search.

As a result of his alleged attempted escape, Solorzano will no longer be eligible to be housed in a conservation camp, the CDCR said. He will be transported to California Correctional Center, a state prison in Susanville.

Solorzano was serving an eight-year sentence for first-degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, and had been received by the CDCR in March 2019. He was scheduled for parole in August 2022.
