LAKEPORT — The Lakeport Women’s Civic Club is proud to announce the recipients of their two $1,000 Vocational Education Scholarships for 2020.
Samantha Hughes of Lower Lake High School will be attending Butte Community College to acquire a Welding Certificate after taking first place at the SkillsUSA MIG Welding Competition this last year.
Christopher Fischer of Middletown High School will be attending either Santa Rosa Junior College for a Diesel Equipment Technology Certificate or Shasta College for a Diesel Technology Certificate.
We are very proud of these two young people. They both carried exceptional GPAs and provided outstanding letters of recommendation. We wish them all the best in their endeavors!
While LWCC treasurer was writing checks they included one for $975.00 to North Coast Opportunities to support Lake County Community Food Drive and another for $975.00 to Redwood Empire Food Bank to support Lake County Food Distribution. These funds were collected directly from the members of the club upon learning of the challenges that organizations like these were facing due to the COVID19 concerns.
