LAKEPORT — Racing action resumes Saturday at the Lakeport Speedway where several different car divisions will battle it out on the quarter-mile paved oval at the Lake County Fairgrounds.
Fans are still prohibited from attending races because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but action will be livestreamed on the Lakeport Speedway’s facebook page.
Cars can prepare for Saturday’s races during the test-and-tune session Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the track. All cars are welcome to participate. Call Richard Knight at 533-6203 for more information.
Saturday’s racing card features the local Late Models, running for the first time this season. Also on the racing card are the Taco Bell bomber, Northern California Racing Association (NCRA) modifieds, and the Legends of the Pacific in their second appearance this season at Lakeport.
Racing action won’t return to Lakeport until Aug. 15 when the NCRA modifieds compete in a 45-lap feature. They’ll be joined by the bombers, bandoleros and Pro-4 modifieds. Other race dates are Aug. 22 and Sept. 12.
Through last weekend’s action at Lakeport, Donovan Cox leads the Taco Bell bombers division with 304 points. His closest pursuers in the point standings are Amber Portlock (250), Mike Collins (207), Klinton Waite (191) and Trever Abella (171). In the NCRA modifieds division, Mike Sullivan (221) holds a small lead over Richard Knight (209). Richard Schmidt is third (118). In the NCRA Legends Car division, Kylie Daniels is atop the leaderboard with 205 points, Dane Nissen is next with 190, David Dunlap and Tom Summers are tied for third with 168, and Trey Daniels is fifth with 154.
