On July 18, 2020, at approximately 12 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol responded to the area of Shag Rock on Clear Lake for a report of a man who possibly drowned.  When the Marine Patrol units arrived, occupants of a boat told them a male identified as Anthony Troy Jenkins, 48, of Stockton had fallen off the boat and had not resurfaced.

An initial search of the area was conducted by the Marine Patrol units, but they were not able to locate Jenkins.  The Northshore Fire Protection District Dive Team was requested to assist with the search.  The dive team arrived approximately an hour after the incident was reported and began searching the area.  The Marine Patrol also utilized their side scan sonar to search for Jenkins.  Jenkins was not located and the search was halted in the late afternoon.

On July 19, at 6:30 AM, the Marine Patrol units and the dive team again searched the area where Jenkins was last seen.  The area was searched for approximately seven hours, but Jenkins was not located and the search was halted.  On July 20, Marine Patrol units continued to search the area and again did not locate Jenkins.

On July 21, at 8 AM, the body of a dead man was located by Marine Patrol units in the area of Shag Rock.  The body is believed to be that of Jenkins.  Positive identification and cause of death are pending an autopsy that will occur later this week.
