COBB — The 37th annual Lake County Amateur Golf Championship, the granddaddy of the major tournaments on the Lake County Amateur Golf Circuit, will be contested Aug. 29-30 at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain.

The $110 entry fee ($70 for Adams Springs members) includes two rounds of tournament golf, the prize fund, trophies, lunch and tournament tee prizes. The Amateur offers divisions for men’s scratch, net, senior and senior net golfers. Golfers who are competing in an extra division should add $30 to their entry fee.

Billy Witt, a top area golfer, is the defending champion. Other flight defending champions are senior champ Jerry Pangle and net and senior net champion Rick Easter.

The entry deadline is Aug. 23 or when the Amateur field reaches 48 golfers. Entries are available at area golf courses. Call tournament director John Berry at (707) 245-5047 for more information. Checks should be made payable to Lake County Junior Golf and can be dropped off at Adams Springs Golf Course or mailed to Adams Springs Junior Golf, c/o John Berry, 1800 S. Main Street No. 48, Lakeport, CA., 95453.

Flights are determined by handicap or age (championship 0-9), net (10 and higher), senior and senior net (age 50 and older).
