Witt holds scratch flight points lead

Lopez, Monsante, Jolin also lead their flights on amateur circuit

LAKE COUNTY — Billy Witt holds a 40-point lead over Juan Lopez atop the championship flight point standings through the first four events on the Lake County Amateur Golf Circuit 2020 schedule.

Both Witt, who has 275 points, and Lopez, who has 235, are well known in Lake County golfing circles for their successful careers and both are past champions in the championship (scratch) flight.

Dylan Harrison is third in the championship standings with 220 points, Peter Wotherspoon is fourth with 160 and Matt Wotherspoon is fifth with 150. Also cracking the top 10 in the scratch flight are Enrique Monsante (120), Max Huff (100), Darren Hostetler (90), Ashley Mayhew (75) and Brian Bechtol (75).

In the net flight, Monsante owns a 280-235 lead over Bob Jolin followed by Todd Colbrandt (220), Rick Easter (185) and Billy Shaul (185), Darren Hostetler (150) and Peter Wotherspoon (130).

In the senior gross flight, Lopez holds a 480-350 lead over Jolin, Easter is third with 340, Todd Colbrandt is fourth with 325 and Ken Kellner is fifth with 210. Rounding out the top 10 are Mel O’Meara (180), Bruce Forsythe (160), Norm Rentsch (140), Bechtol (100) and Joe Delprete (100).

In the senior net division, Jolin leads the way with 455 points, Colbrandt is next at 325, Kellner and Easter are tied for third with 290, and O’Meara is fifth with 260.

The next event on the Lake County Amateur Golf Circuit schedule is the 37th annual Lake County Amateur on Aug. 28-29 at Adams Springs Golf Course. Sign-ups are now underway and close Aug. 23 or when the field reaches 48 golfers.
