LAKE COUNTY — “It is with a great sadness that I report a third Lake County resident has died with a COVID-19-related illness.  This person was younger than 65, and recently entered the hospital with symptoms consistent with COVID-19,” said Dr. Gary Pace Lake County Health Officer.

“Unfortunately, this person passed away earlier today,” noted Pace late Wednesday via a press release from the County.  “We send our deepest condolences to all of those connected to this individual.  To protect the privacy of this person and their family, we will not be giving out any further information at this time.”

“This is another tragic reminder that all Lake County residents must take precautions that can slow the spread of this virus.  Thank you for continuing to do your part to protect those most vulnerable,” Pace added.

As of press time Thursday the County’s Coronavirus overall cases stood at 282 overall cases with 20 still active. Eighteen patients have been hospitalized during the course of the pandemic and 259 have recovered. County officials noted that the issue with the state’s electronic laboratory reporting system that generated the backlog has been addressed and CDPH continues to closely monitor the performance of the system.

As of August 17, the county data shows that patients in the 25 to 34 years of age range make up the largest group of COVID-19 cases in Lake County totaling 58 versus 25 cases for the categories of zero to 12 and residents over 65 years old.
