LAKEPORT — On the way in and on the way out. That’s the case Sept. 12 when the North State Modified Series (NSMS) opens its fall schedule while the Lakeport Speedway closes out its season schedule on the quarter-mile paved oval at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport.
The NSMS cars are atop the racing card that also features the Taco Bell bombers, the Legends Cars, the 4-Bangers, the Pro-4 modifieds, the Late Models, and the bandoleros.
Prior to Saturday’s races, a test-and-tune session will be held Friday for cars in all divisions beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until dark.
Thanks to Bob Oliver of Competition Carburetion, the purse for the NSMS drivers pays down to the 22 top finishers, including $1,000 for first place, $700 for second, and $600 for third. There is also a $50 bonus for the driver posting the fastest lap during the feature event.
NSMS’ fall 2020 schedule features four races, beginning with the Lakeport Speedway. The next stop is the Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka on Sept. 26 for the McMurray & Sons Roofing 60, followed by the Shasta Speedway in Anderson on Oct. 3 for the Lloyd Burton Against the Wind Modified Challenge, and finally the Stockton 99 Speedway on Oct. 24 for the Bob Lehman Classic.
All NSMS races are presented by Protect the Harvest.
