Young 3-year-old Darius Apar (in the middle) and his mother Adelia (to Darius’s right) were enjoying their swim at the WorldMark Clear Lake Resort’s pool in Nice, on a Labor Day Weekend afternoon, when young Darius’s limp body was pulled from the pool, unconscious and not breathing. According to staff accounts, that’s when WorldMark Clear Lake’s team led by 20 year veteran Lydia Meraz (to Darius’s left) GSA’s Diana Starkey and Ali Staub sped into action. They arrived to find Darius in a comatose state and immediately began to assist. Meraz conducted CPR with three rounds of compressions and after what seemed like an eternity, Darius began to cry and breathe. Meanwhile the rest of the WorldMark TEAM set up road blocks, and guided the ambulance and first responders in to provide medical treatment/transportation for mom and her son to the nearest hospital. Meraz is on the agenda for today’s Board of Supervisors meeting where she will be commended by the board for her “heroic actions in saving the life of 3-Year-Old Darius Apar.”
