LAKE COUNTY- From accidents on the roadways to protests, there is no shortage of newsworthy events in Lake County. The week started with a six-car pile up on Highway 29 at the Bottle Rock crossing. CHP, Kelseyville Fire Protection District and South Lake Fire were among a myriad of agencies responding. No fatalities were reported.

The week was book-ended on Thursday afternoon where A group of approximately a dozen protesters calling themselves “Freedom Angels” gathered in front of the Lake County Health Department offices Thursday afternoon to protest proposed Health Department orders, specifically being vocal against flu shots for health workers and against masking.

The flu shots were mentioned recently at a Lake County Board of Supervisors meeting where Health Officer Dr. Gary Pace suggested it to the board. Pace also said publicly that while the state number of COVID-19 cases continues to decrease, Lake County has seen an increase due to mass gatherings and partly due to a recent outbreak at nursing facilities in Lakeport. According to the most up to date data posted on the County website, there are 539 overall cases in the county as of press time Friday, 96 currently active with four in the hospital and 11 deaths.
