KELSEYVILLE — If you feel cooped up at home by the COVID-19 pandemic and need a little exercise, help out Kelseyville High School’s FFA program during the Plod Around the Patch beginning Saturday in Kelseyville.

Prospective plodders will meet at the Wildhurst Winery corn maze and pumpkin patch, located on Highway 29 across from Rainbow Ag, every Saturday and Sunday starting Oct. 3 and running through Oct. 31.You are invited to walk or run around the outside of the maze and pumpkin patch on a .8-mile-long dirt course. Along the course there will be several exercise stations that are completely optional for the walkers/runners. You will receive a pumpkin sticker for a card that will be provided for each lap completed. At 9 a.m. the card holder will have the opportunity to win a pumpkin compliments of the Hat Family, owners of Wildhurst Winery, vineyards and the corn maze/pumpkin patch.

Tanya and Michael Hat have graciously donated thousands of dollars of pumpkin sales the past four years to the Kelseyville High School ag department and FFA. This money has paid for student conferences, classroom activities, a greenhouse and ag farm upgrades, show teams, lab supplies, and scholarships for students.

All plodders receive a bottle of water, a mini-pumpkin and the rights to say “I exercised today!” while walking around a beautiful piece of property and seeing agriculture in action.

All plodders/runners are asked to bring their own protective facemasks and please wear comfortable walking shoes. Social distancing requirements will be followed.

There is no cost to participate but donations to the Kelseyville FFA program are greatly appreciated.
