California Statewide fire summary
Full containment was announced on two of the largest lightning complexes that began in August. The LNU Complex and the SCU Complex are 100% contained as of this morning. As crews prepare for another round of Red Flag Warnings, over 17,000 firefighters remain on the lines of 24 major wildfires across the state. Crews across the State also responded to 23 new wildfires yesterday, bringing full containment to all.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been over 8,100 wildfires that have burned well over 3.9 million acres in California. Currently, over 96,000 residents are evacuated across the state. A Red Flag Warning is in effect beginning continuing through much of today for the North and South Bay, Central Mendocino County, Western Monterey County and most of the Los Padres National Forest for gusty winds and low humidity. Understanding a FEMA Determination Letter
California residents who applied for assistance from FEMA after sustaining losses from the wildfires starting Aug. 14 may have received a letter saying they are ineligible for housing assistance.
This is called a determination letter. To understand why FEMA determined you to be ineligible, you must read the letter carefully to the end. It may be for a reason you can fix.
If you have questions about the letter you received and what your next step may be, get in touch with a FEMA specialist who can help you by calling 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585) between 7 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. PDT. If you use a relay service such as a videophone, Innocaption or CapTel, provide FEMA the specific number assigned to that service when you register.
