Public manual tally of 1% of precincts, Nov. 3 General Election
The Lake County Registrar of Voters would like to inform voters, observers and the public that the Registrar of Voters office (2nd Floor, Room 209, Courthouse, 255 North Forbes Street, Lakeport) will conduct a public manual tally of a minimum of 1% of randomly selected precincts which will include each contest voted on at the Nov. 3, 2020 General Election, commencing on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 beginning at 9 a.m. The selection of the precinct(s) to be included in the manual tally will be randomly chosen on the same date prior to the manual tally.
Observers are invited to view the manual tally of the ballots, but shall not interfere with the election process.

Thompson to hold virtual fire recovery town hall
On Thursday, November 12, Rep. Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena) will hold a Virtual Fire Recovery Town Hall from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. PST. Thompson will be joined by representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Small Business Administration (SBA), and California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), to help constituents access fire recovery resources. This is the 16th in a series of virtual town halls. All constituents of California’s Fifth Congressional District and members of the press are invited to join.
This event will be held over Zoom and interested participants must email Thompson’s office in order to join, as the platform has a capacity of 500 people. Interested participants will be notified via email with instructions on how to join. The event will also be streamed on Facebook Live via Thompson’s page, https://www.facebook.com/RepMikeThompson/.
For security reasons, interested participants must email thompson.townhall@mail.house.gov to get information on how to join and should include their name, their email and their city of residence.

Lynda.com is an on-demand library of instructional videos covering the latest business, technology and creative skills. It provides personalized course recommendations and is designed to help you achieve your full potential.
Lynda.com’s course list contains more than 5,000 courses in resume writing, career development, technology, business, IT, the web, design, marketing and more. Every week Lynda.com adds 25 to 30 new courses to the catalog. Classes feature video lessons and exercises for putting the lessons into practice. Students can earn certificates of completion, including Microsoft Office Specialist certification.
Students can explore courses across a wide range of business, creative and technology skills. You can find courses based on skills, subjects, software and more.
Tutorials on Microsoft Excel alone number in the hundreds, covering topics from the basics to advanced financial functions.

Scholarships available to study abroad in Germany
Apply now for the prestigious Congress-Bundestag Scholarship study abroad program to Germany.
ASSE is one of four specially chosen exchange organizations that participate in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) program, jointly sponsored by the United States Congress and the German Bundestag (Parliament).
ASSE has 50 scholarships available to American youth from the western and northwestern regions of the USA. ASSE is responsible for promoting the CBYX program, recruiting applicants, and selecting finalists. Students are encouraged to learn more and apply at www.UsaGermanyScholarship.org.
