Father-and-son team brings 21.12 pounds to the scales in American Bass tourney

LAKEPORT — The father-and-son team of Sandy and Bryan McGeoch of Lakeport won the American Bass Northern Division Regional team tournament held Saturday in Lakeport at the Skylark Shores Resort.

The McGeochs weighed in a five-fish limit of 21.12 pounds, including the big fish of the tournament, a 6.13-pounder. They collected $1,888 for their victory in the 18-team field. They said they caught approximately 15 fish during the tournament.

Not far behind in second place was the team of Mark Crutcher of Lakeport and Brad Amodeo of Fremont with a five-fish limit of 20.96 pounds, which earned them a payday of $1,104.

The Upper Lake duo of John Pearl and Gary Collins came in third with 16.39 pounds and collected $612.

Fourth place went to David Boettger of Windsor and partner Jerod Adams of Cloverdale with a five-fish limit of 15.46 pounds. They won $84.

Rounding out the top five was the all-Kelseyville team of Kevin and George Cockriell with a five-fish limit of 14.04 pounds, worth $56.

Also finishing in the top 10 were Brad and Kim Bonino of Lincoln with a five-fish limit of 13.18 pounds, good for sixth place; Corey Schmidt of Clearlake and Jared Lintner of Arroyo Grande, seventh with a four-fish total of 11.98 pounds; Joey Skym and Nick Cloutier of Oakley, eighth with a five-fish limit of 11.65 pounds; Tony Miles of Eureka and Jeremy Miles of Grants Pass, Oregon, ninth with a four-fish total of 11.39 pounds; and Joseph Ryan and Jesse Roach of San Pablo, 10th with a three-fish total of 10.09 pounds.

Second place in the big fish category went to the team of Alan Bryan Yi of San Pedro and John Yi of Redondo Beach with a 5.12-pounder. They won $144.

The next scheduled American Bass tournament at Clear Lake is Jan. 30 at a site to be determined.
