MIDDLETOWN—Each year Calpine employees at The Geysers team up to host a gift drive benefiting local youth. This year marked the 22nd year and three organizations were selected to distribute gifts donated: In Cloverdale, Lions Club and Rotary teamed up to collect gifts and Salvation Army serving all of Sonoma County; in Lake County, Office of Education’s Healthy Start’s Elf Gift Program were the organizations selected to distribute the gifts donated.  And, in lieu of the annual ‘Santa Visits Calpine’ community event regularly hosted at the Visitor Center, two organizations received a monetary donation to help ensure every child receives a gift this year.

In Lake County, students are identified with needs, through the Healthy Start Services/case management programs. This county-wide effort includes Family PRO-Differential Response, students experiencing homelessness, Foster Youth Services, the Oral Health and Nurturing Families Program. Referrals also accepted through the different school counselors, teachers and administration as well as collaborative community partners.

“Through my work daily with Lake County Office of Education Healthy Start, I am surrounded by amazing people who make a difference!  Thank you, Calpine and your team at The Geysers for your generosity in bringing smiles and normalcy to the students and families of the Lake County School District this holiday season. The wonderful Elves at Calpine are really making a difference in an exceptional year. Merry Christmas! – Ana Santana, Program Director, Lake County Office of Education Healthy Start.

Thank you so much for all the nice gifts and the generous donation. Calpine is just the best! – Iris Konik, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Cloverdale and the Cloverdale Lions Club.

A special thank you to Denise Stirtz and Stacy McGrath for their countless hours coordinating the employee toy drive year after year.
