Roadside alley and weed spraying to start March 15

The City of Lakeport Public Works Department’s roadside and alley weed spraying program will commence on March 15, 2021.  Weeds in the public right-of-way and in areas without sidewalks or paving will be sprayed using an herbicide.  If a property owner or resident (tenants or renters must get the legal owner’s concurrence for the request) does not want “herbacide” sprayed adjacent to their property, they must contact the Public Works Department at 707-263-3578 by no later than March 12, 2021 by 3 pm.

CLEARLAKE

Wireless carrier provides a virtual way for K-12 groups to raise up to $1,000 for academic and extra-curricular activities

For the seventh year in a row, youth-focused organizations in Clearlake can earn up to $1,000 through UScellular’s Community Connections program. Whether it’s STEM programs, sports teams, marching bands, dance teams, arts or a variety of other groups, organizers can sign up at uscellular.com/communityconnections and start earning money for their activity, 100% virtually.

Once registered online, non-profit groups representing youth from kindergarten up to 12th grade have 14 days to rally their friends, families and social followers to complete digital activities like watching a video or following UScellular on its social channels to earn funds. Each completed activity earns money that goes directly to the organization.

“Now more than ever, K-12 groups are in need of funds to support their activities and initiatives,” said Sarah Pearson, vice president and general manager for UScellular in the Northwest. “The Community Connections program offers an easy, virtual platform for Clearlake youth organizations to raise money throughout the year and helps kids achieve their goals.”

Since launching the program in 2015, U.S. Cellular has awarded more than $1.4 million to 3,100 groups nationwide to support their needs from equipment purchases to field trips. For more information and to view the official rules, please go to uscellular.com/communityconnections.
