
LAKEPORT– The Lakeport City Council will approve the 12 priorities developed at a special meeting last week, award a construction contract to AFelix General Engineering and honor the Lake County Public Health officer, Dr. Gary Pace, at their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m.
On March 9, the Lakeport City Council held a special meeting where city staff presented proposed goals for the 2021-22 fiscal year.
During the special meeting, the city staff revealed a list of potential goals for the fiscal year. Council members were also asked to provide additional goals.
The city held the special meeting to allow public input on these goals for the city.
The city and council members came up with 12 goals. These include:
- Enhancing the downtown and lakefront area
- Continue efforts in the Hotel Feasibility Study and the Lakeport Lakefront Revitalization Plan
- Develop a strategic plan for city parks and recreation
- Amend city ordinances to permit cannabis retailers
- Establish policies to advance racial equity, diversity and inclusion
- Increase foot-traffic to businesses and downtown area
- Adoption of a property maintenance ordinance
- Maintain appropriate police staffing
- Develop a strategy to decrease unfunded actual liabilities for pensions
- Construction of Lakefront Park
- Complete annexation
- Expansion of retail opportunities.
Lakeport City Council is scheduled to discuss the approval of a contract for completion of a sewer rehabilitation project.
The Council will be asked to award this to the lowest bidder, AFelix General Engineering, Inc. The project will cost $649,000.
The work will consist of removing and replacing existing sewer mains, manholes, laterals, rodding and inlets.
The work for the project will be located on 9th Street, Crawford Street, Second Street, Estep Street, Tunis Street and Terrace Middle School.
City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Regular Council meetings begin at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, 225 Park Street but during the COVID-19 pandemic, council meetings are streamed.
