LAKE COUNTY
The 6th annual Shakespeare at the Lake will present “All’s Well That Ends Well.”
A hint of summer is in the air, and in Lake County that can only mean one thing: the 6th annual Shakespeare at the Lake! Last year’s production was the tragic Romeo and Juliet, which seemed appropriate considering what a grim year 2020 was. With hope on the horizon in 2021, Lake County Theatre Company and Mendocino College are teaming up for a comedy, All’s Well That Ends Well. Like most of Shakespeare’s comedies, this one tells the tale of unrequited love, mistaken identities, betrayal, and revenge. After a faked death, a miraculous treatment for an incurable disease, and a pregnancy, the play concludes with–you guessed it– a wedding! In the end, all’s well that ends well….or is it? Tune in for the performance to find out!
Due to continued restrictions on large gatherings and uncertainties for what the coming months may bring, this year’s play will again be an online production. We sincerely hope this will be the last virtual one, and that the 2022 Shakespeare at the Lake will return to its rightful outdoor venues in Clearlake and Lakeport along the beautiful shores of Clear Lake. For this year, the entire production will be auditioned, rehearsed, and performed online. Pre-recorded performances will be available for viewing on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25 at 7pm, and Sunday, July 26 at 2pm.
Actors will be required to register for THEATRE 220 at Mendocino College in order to participate. No experience is necessary, and since the production is entirely online, performers from outside of Lake County are welcome (and encouraged!) to try out. Auditions will be held online on May 13 and 15. Audition materials will be posted at the LCTC website, lctc.us in early May. To sign up for an audition time slot, email director John Tomlinson at jtomlinson@mendocino.edu. Shakespeare at the Lake is a joint production of the Lake County Theatre Company and Mendocino College, with generous support from the Lake County Friends of Mendocino College. For more information, email jtomlinson@mendocino.edu or call 707-278-9628.

LAKE COUNTY
Get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible, appointments available
We encourage Lake County residents to get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible. Our case rate continues to be higher than we would like. As we have previously reported, COVID-19 variants are present in our county. People are also more active now, with restrictions being loosened, and community perception is that risk is generally decreasing. COVID-19 is prevalent (substantial-widespread, under State criteria) in Lake County. Please continue to exercise caution: frequently wash or sanitize your hands; wear masks and practice social distancing in all interactions with people outside of your household (especially folks who are not fully vaccinated); and get the vaccine.
All three vaccines seem to be quite effective, even in protecting against the new COVID-19 variants. We are seeing very minimal problems with side effects; no serious reactions have occurred at any of Public Health’s vaccination clinics.
How do I get vaccinated? Eligibility Criteria Expanding this Week, Next Week’s Appointments Available Tomorrow
The Health Department is continuing Drive-Thru clinics:
- Lakeport: Mondays, 10am-4pm, Lakeport Auto Movies (52 Soda Bay Road)
- Clearlake: Tuesdays-Thursdays, 10am-4pm, Redbud Park (14655 Lakeshore Dr.)
There are many appointments still available for this week. Schedule first and second dose appointments for these clinics at MyTurn.ca.gov. Next week’s appointments are expected to be open by tomorrow. While insurance information is collected from those that have it, there is currently no out of pocket cost for anyone that gets the COVID-19 vaccine. No cost transportation options are also available through Lake Transit Authority: https://laketransit.org/topics/news/
Starting this today, April 1, all Californians age 50 years and older are eligible to be vaccinated.
As of April 15, people age 16 and older will be eligible.
Adventist and Sutter are also hosting vaccine clinics for all eligible community members (not just their registered patients):
- Adventist Health – 707-995-4500
- Sutter Health – 844-987-6115, or https://www.sutterhealth.org/for-patients/health-alerts/covid-19-vaccine
Safeway in Lakeport has a limited supply of vaccine, as well (their webpage has not been updated to list all current eligibility criteria, but you can self-attest you are eligible, and bring proof of eligibility to your appointment; people not qualified will be denied vaccine):
North Lake Pharmacy (707-263-1328 or 707-263-6192) is also doing some vaccination.
Lake County Tribal Health Consortium continues to vaccinate many people, and they will be opening to non-patients in the near future. For information, visit http://www.lcthc.com/ or call 707-263-8382
We have accomplished a lot in the three months the vaccine has been available. Over 33% of Lake County’s adults have gotten at least one dose. To really protect our communities, and be able to move forward safely, we need to make a lot more progress. Don’t delay!
