County athletes pile up firsts at Kelseyville

Middletown has six double-event winners in the field

KELSEYVILLE — Middletown’s Isaac Rascon, Filemon Sanchez and Greyson Rockwell joined Clear Lake’s Donavin Valadez as double-event winners in the varsity boys division Wednesday during a Coastal Mountain Conference track and field meet in Kelseyville.

Kelseyville hosted athletes from Middletown, Clear Lake, Willits and Calistoga high schools.

Varsity boys

Rascon hit the finish line first in the 1,600 meters (5 minutes, 4.2 seconds) and the 3,200 (11:16.8) while Sanchez swept the hurdle events, winning the 110 in 18.7 and 300 in 49.4. Rockwell’s winning toss of 41 feet, 9 inches in the shotput was the best among CMC athletes this season. His best throw in the discus was 111-9.

For Clear Lake, Valadez won both sprints, taking the 100 in 11.9 seconds and the 200 in 25.6.

Other event winners were Middletown’s Nadau Dicouski in the 400 (1:01.1) and Isaiah Diaz in the 800 (2:26.2), and Clear Lake’s Brenden Jones in the high jump (5-6).

Middletown also won the 4×100 (54.6) and 4×400 (4:52.1) relays.

Among second-place finishers were Middletown’s Forrest Devine in the 200 (25.9) and high jump (5-0), Diaz in the 1,600 (5:26.0), Shane Guill in the 800 (2:38.8), Brody Breeden in the shotput (38-1) and Roberto Chaires in the discus (99-5); and Clear Lake’s Jones in the 400 (1:04.0) and Tyler Haskell in the 100 (12.7) and 300 hurdles (53.8).

Girls

Double-event winners in the girls division were Middletown’s Georgia Guerrero in the 200 (30.8) and 400 (1:07.8) and Amanda Hart in the discus (75-0) and shotput (27-8), and Clear Lake’s Hannah Garrity in the 800 (2:44.2) and 1,600 (5:50.3).

Other first-place finishers were Kelseyville’s Elizabeth Walker in the 100 (14.7) and Summer Anderson in the high jump (4-4).

Middletown also won the 4×400 relay in 5:23.6.

Second-place finishes went to Middletown’s Issy Barriga in the 100 (15.1) and 200 (33.8), Nicole Pyzer in the 1,600 (6:49.2), Erica Kinsel in the 800 (3:19.7), Willits’ Olivia Smith in the shotput (27-5) and discus (58-3), and Kelseyville’s Walker in the high jump (4-3).

Frosh-soph boys

Middletown’s Jared Lopez won the shotput (33-1) and discus (89-11) in the frosh-soph boys division while Kelseyville’s Aiden Rivas topped the field in the 200 (28.5) and 400 (1:03.3).

Other frosh-soph winners were Middletown’s Wyatt Grothe in the high jump (4-10) and Elijah Diaz in the 800 (2:34.4), and Kelseyville’s Elliott Mayo in the 1,600 (5:39) and Jesus Ledesma in the 100 (15.0).
